:) you are either thinking of DWDM (so your link is 10G x 80 wavelengths) or numbers wrong. Nobody has a 800G link, 40G and 100G are the current "cutting edge". 40G capabilities over a single fiber are independent of DWDM capabilities.

Im sitting here looking at our 800G link right now, 40G is paltry.

@44sec, the video shows the nortel lab in ottawa, where the 40G modem was designed and tested. I happen to work in that area, and my mentor is in this video.

Does the narrator remind anyone of the DVD series "Planet Earth"?@ 44sec why does the theme change from present/futuristic to 1980s? (shots of the lab etc.)@ 1:14sec they show 40G in blue writing...was that really the climax? That should have been "in your face"...40G!!!...leave a lasting impression...instead I was actually bored by that part? The concept is excellent...the technology is excellent...but it doesn't leave that great of a lasting impression IMHO. Someone has to be critical...

Getting 40Gb using an existing 10Gb fiber infrastructure with a path to 100Gb is huge. That's thinking outside the innerduct! |
