Actually, the demon is called 'Mephistopheles'...they shortened it for whatever reason. The albums 'Epica' and 'The Black Halo' go together as a storyline [Halo continues where Epica left off]. The storyline is a musical recreation of Faust, the famous work by Goethe in which a man is tempted into selling his soul (to, you guessed it, Mephistopheles). In the end, the demon is thwarted.
