Unfortunately, we forget time and time again that empire-building means fighting to submit, rape, steal, burn and murder others. We romanticize this notion of empire in our warm, fuzzy homes. I say this, live by the sword, die by the sword; thus is the cycle.

I agree as well... The US today is becoming what Rome had become a few decades before it's collapse... we've become spoiled by our own success that we've lost our identity and all those features that a true American should be

It wasn't exactly a practice. Just a lifestyle. But nonetheless, Julius Caesar was before Christianity.

Study history and all great civilizations and empires have risen and fallen from within. The Babylonian Empire, The Greek Empire, The Roman Empire, The British Empire and those that survived are not as great as they once were. Like a precious wine that everybody desires, the United State is being diluted to the point it will be like water and it is an empire that is going down the same road as other empires in the past.
