Actually, Mustaine said on Heavy The Story of Metal Episode 4 Part 3: The Start of Thrash Metal that glam stands for Gay Los Angeles Metal and Scott Ian and Lars say they hated those bands and Kerry King said that "I never understood it...it seemed like the guys were doing everything they could to look more feminine. Actually, people misunderstand the meaning of the term "glam rock." "Glam rock" started in the late 1960's early 1970's, and was very popular in the mid 1970's. That was stuff like David Bowie and T. Rex. "Glam metal" (or "hair metal") is completely different, and is bullshit like Poison, Ratt, Motley Crue and countless others. Glam rock may have had an influence on hair metal, I don't know, but they're completely different types of music. Anyway: Metal Up Your ASS! |
