If you're interested in what he's saying I strongly recommend reading Ocean of Reason and Adornment of the Middle Way. These are great essays on Madhyamaka Buddhism. Hagelin's language is very esoteric and even a little too New Agey sounding for some. Madhyamaka is a little easier to get as it follows simple logic to finality. You don't need to understand nuclear physics to realize reality. Subject and object are inseparable, think about it man.

At the end of the last video Consciousness part one he touched on the Concept that Trying is doomed to failure because it involves effort.I teach this in my work. The mind like everything else in the universe must obey natural law. When we try to do something we run into a Law that Hypnotist have know about for hundreds of years. It is called the Law of Reversed Effect. Basically the law states the harder you try to do something the less likely it is to happen. Insomia is a good example of it.

A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in timeand space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separatedfrom the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. Albert Einstein

So what he's saying is that there's a more fundamental unity among things than can be appreciated by our physical senses. But what he didnt go into, at least it this short clip, was how this fundamental unity can be experienced directly without having to settle for mere intellectual concepts. I suspect though that his answer would be the same as the great eastern mystics of India and China -> Meditation.

To clarify...intentions and will in the form of thought.

Hahaha no you are not the only one thinking that. A perfect example of the beauty and truth of what he is saying. And with that being said, you, me and all "creation" would be "physically manifested" thoughts of "God," which is ultimately the root of us all. So the question I suppose, is what starts the ripple? I for one am getting the feeling that we all do, with intention and will pulsating through each one of us, making small ripples. After all, altogether, we are one. (;

So the unified field = God?Am I the only one who thinks that?

Like I said, I take a pressupositionaly view of morality - that means that I know that I can't scientifically prove morality exists in an objective sense, but rather that it is inherently designed into our natural characterI believe that rape is wrong not just because society says so, but because it really is.

You say that right or wrong exist outside your knowing(or thinking) about it.So tell me, if they exist outside your knowing, how do you know that they exist???And love and hate are diametrically opposite, they can never be neutral, but the basic energy with which love and hate prevail is neutral. What i am saying is that at a deeper level everything is neutral. But i respect your view, at the level of the SOCIETY, murder is bad, it can never be good, rape is bad, hatred is bad...etc
Sabradin (September 16, 2008 at 5:21 pm)
your view of right and wrong is what I don't believeI have a presuppositionaly view of right and wrong and I believe that reality teaches us that there is an inherent right and wrong "law" written into our lives and written into realityThat means that I believe that right and wrong exist outside my knowing (or thinking) about iti.e. murder or hate is wrong whether or not I believe itI realize this contradicts your view, that love and hate are nuetral and I disagree |
