It is confusing at times. It has more characters than any book I have ever read, and most of them are so minor they are only mentioned in one or two sentences and just serve to confuse you. The book is fantastic, though. The action sequences are really gripping.

Buster Kilrain is confusing because he is a fictional character. He was written in the Novel,"Killer Angels" as well in the movies of both "Gods and Generals" and "Gettysburg" How truthful is the motion picture and how honest is the book "Killer Angels".It is probably one of the causes as to confusion that we indeed are not able to know better only perhaps to know more. The film is much to preachy and a-lot of speech making. There are even two july firsts 1863.

nonsense the south fought to protect there country from invasion, the north fought because they were conscripted to do so, guys in the trenches dont care about government they just want to survive. The highest idea in the whole war was to free the slaves, fellow humans in bondage to another human. States rights or strong federal government are nothing but spin.

My family too fought on both sides, my greatgrandfather once told my father that the only thing in his life that he truly regreted was fighting on the side of the North. When he wnt back to visit family in the South after the war, he was ashamed of the way they were treated.

Many in the South believed strongly in States rights, many in the North believed in a strong Federal government mandating rights it see's fit. Being from a family that fought on both sides, I can see points on both sides. Today we have similar situations, I do not believe the Federal Government should interfere or mandate every aspect of ones life. Thats what my ancestors in the South fought for.

Very admirable.

It was also about keeping our country as one. A great many of the southerners would disagree that it was about slavery at all. Many of them simply fought for their homeland.
