The music of Balakirev - Overture on Three Russian Themes
Classical music for your day.Balakirev was part of 'The Five', a small group of Russian composers that consisted of Mussorgsky, Borodin, Rimsky-Korsakov, Cui and himself. He had not much specialised music training but trained and taught himself, studying the works of western composers.What he seemed to do lots was incorporate traditional Russian folk tunes / songs into his music.
