I agree. I saw Skerryvore play this in Oban at New Year and it sounded more like an Irish song than an American one to me then and still does now, regardless of who wrote it and it is about a 'Galway Girl'.

well if shes from galway and its about her that adds an irish twist to it ad steve earl says th song was written for him and sharon shannon which is why it appears on sharons album as well the tin whistle is used which is an irish instrument its a mixture of southern music and irish music which is whats so great about it
