I found them thanks to my love for the old Blind Melon this is much better than the new Blind Melon.

I believe you are thinking of Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon. Chris Shinn was the singer for Unified theory and as best as i can figure, they broke up over creative differences, and Blind Melon "reunited" so the two members left. Chris is still playing though and has a band "Everything is Energy" that you should check out. You'll like it.

Chris Shinn is one of the most amazing singers I've ever heard. Luckily, I had the chance of seeing him w/ Unified Theory in good ol' Omaha, Ne, back near the end of their run. It's very unfortunate that UT is no longer together, but I can only hope that Chris continues making (and performing) kick-ass music.
