Of course there would be no king of rock & roll without rock & roll itself in the first place.Chuck Berry counts as the main architect that helped build rock & roll with such anthems as Roll Over Beethoven, Maybeline, School Days, No Particular Place To Go and this classic video right here called Johnny B.Goode.

"If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry'."-John Lennon "There's only one true king of rock 'n' roll. His name is Chuck Berry."-Stevie Wonder "[My mama] said, 'You and Elvis are pretty good, but you're no Chuck Berry.'"-Jerry Lee Lewis

Don't be so quick to jump down my throat. Read all of what I said. I said I thought that people would still mostly be segregated but after this music video I didn't know if it was that bad. I wouldn't know how it was considering I am 18. so no. You get a clue.

LOL! What a moron are you on. The crowds were still mostly segregated. You couldn't even have the black artists faces put on record covers. And of course it was no fun for black folks who didn't have many rights at that time. White folks in America have been enjoying/imitating music by blacks forever. That doesn't mean that the pre Civil Rights era times was rosy for all folks or that race relations were good. Get a clue.

Well said Oblisk47, of coarse Mr. Berry was never brainwashed into thinking that the world owed him something...he just knew how to earn it. He is an example on an individual who was already liberated before his time. He related to and touched the very people that hated his people in a peaceful way... If only everyone was more like this. What a great artist. I place Jimi Hendrix in this category also =D

Okay so I hope I don't get flammed for this, but was it common for white people to come together with black people and enjoy the same music? This was back in the 50s right? I mean... this was just before the civil rights movement and I thought the times would be racist and stuff. Huh I guess it wasn't as bad as the history books make it out to be. Still good music. I love that solo.

Correct, but this particular clip is from the early sixties. There were no go-go dancers like that on TV back in the fifties. Everybody was still uptight over Elvis and his hips on Ed Sullivan.
