I just reread my post. I noted how Lennon, had identified himself as a member of the Beatles at a press conference in Canada in Jan. of 1970. Originally, I had forgotten to mention the date (four months after he said he was leaving). Klein had already renegotiated the Beatles royalty rate on their sale of albums, so there was no longer a reason for John to stay silent. The author of "A Day in the Life" speculated that John might not have been sure he really wanted to leave.

It's true, Check George's comments on the Anthology.

juanebiclaro: I wanted to add that it seemed odd that JL would take such an interest in the album (getting Phil Spector to come on board and go threw the 30 hours or so of tapes) after he had told the others he was leaving. I think it was in "A Day in the Life" where the author talks about Lennon - at a press conference in Canada - identifying himself as a member of the Beatles. He also said something to the effect that the band may or may not ever record, but nobody picked up on the satement.

That's right. I forgot about that. There was something that came with the Anthology CD I believe. That pamphlet. I think it made note of George Harrison joking about "now that Davey Dees has left the group..." (or some other name, I'm not sure. For years I read that John missed this session because he was on "holiday." But recently I read in one source that he flat-out refused to attend. This would make sense for those who believe he already told the Beatles in Sep. he was leaving.

Yes, I Me Mine was recorded at Abbey Road on January 3 1970 by George, Paul and Ringo (John missed the session). It was the last songs recorded by the Beatles before the break-up. Across the Universe was originally recorded on february 1968, eleven months before the Let It Be sessions. And both album and single versions of Let It Be contained overdubs recorded at Abbey Road too.

I wanted to add that this is a great video. I've seen the movie a number of times, but never this footage. I've read that they recorded the album at both Twickersham Studios and 3 Saville Rd. Does anyone know if any of the "Let it Be" album was ever recorded at Abbey Road Studios?

I thought I read somewhere (Peter Brown's book, maybe) that when the Beatles came back to the studios after they first recorded "Love me do" in 1962 and it made it to something like seventeen (???) on the charts, that everyone was a lot more friendlier with them upon their return to the studio for their next round of recordings.
