I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but the point of this movie is that true happiness can only be valuable when shared....hence the quote "Happiness is only real when shared"...so when you say who needs other people, I would say everybody needs somebody

Fuck money-the root of everything that is fucked up, unfair, dehumanizing, and cowardly. Supertramp burned his and gave the rest away, lived free and broke the chains, he may have died but by god he died ALIVE, with his eyes open. Don't feel sorry for Chris-feel sorry for us.

I understand why he did his dream, it was one hell of a journey, not to many people could of made it even half the way that he did, but probably 100 years ago they could of, most of us live in a very different world now, very domesticated, very civil, very livable, he now wanted to live outside all of that, and almost made it.Great movie btw!!

I have watched this movie 4 times now..i love it...we must all follow our dreams..our desire to be free ... I hitch hiked around Australia.. when i was 21 and it was one of the best experiences i have ever had ... i grew as a person and found myself....we must feel that freedom at least once in our lives...I also adore the sound track..love Eddie Vedder...Warm love Michelle xoxox

I wouldn't call him a jackass but I would call him stubborn and naive. It's unfortunate he didn't realize the errors of his ways until the very end.

what's wrong with chasing your dreams, even if they are a bit selfish. He didn't prepare himself enough for what he had to face. he shouldn't have went alone. Besides his parents were complete ASSHOLES.

i read the book asshathe hated his dad, he inspired me, id hardly call him a jackass... he's got ballsended up tragically but he died living his dream, no better way to die for an idealouge |
