Pink Floyd "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" Syd Barrett Tribute

Just something simple for people to put on their MySpaces, etc. This is the version from the old VHS tape of Pulse (which IMHO had much better camera angles than the new DVD). The beginning and one verse from the middle (at 6:13) had to be edited out to fit it into YouTube's 10 min. requirement. But the whole movie they showed at the concert is here since it's probably supposed to represent Syd's life (or anybody's)....This is from Earl's Court, London in October of 1994.

Hi BlackBloc22, the answer is that the song comes first, even Satriani knows that much. Noise for the sake of noise is crass. All the shred young guitar hero's wanna get some Alvin Lee, John Sykes, Gary Moore, Pat Travers, etc, down their malnutrated rock music necks before arpeggioing over everything they hear.lol.

Err. Myromm, that's Nick Mason (not Manson)To the teens: guaranteed that though you may wander away from Floyd, you'll eventually return and thing, "d**n! Awesome!" I discovered "Meddle" and "Obscured by Clouds" in my brother's albums when I was 11 (headphone heaven!). That was in '72.Up and down, back and forth--classical, punk, metal of all flavors, folk, newage--all roads lead me back. Welcome to the machine.

Actually syd barret went insane because of the fame and everything that came with it. the lcd probably acted as a catalyst into helping him go insane. also he and his father had a great relationship until syd was 14 and his father died. thats when he started going a lil off the tracks. a very sad story. look into it.

yes. I've been covering Glimour-well Pink Floyd since I was 8 (When I started playing guitar). And I still don't think anyone can truly play the same way. The original greats of guitar are nearly impossible to touch. Clapton, Johnson, Morrison, Gilmour, Page and plenty of others and I know I missed some. The original greats of guitar will never be touched by Generation X in soul or perfect rythmn. We'll have to figure it out on our own.

Every modern gutarist needs to sit up and listen long to Gilmour, what a sensative, soulful, master, musician.Do any young musicians really understand how clever and yet equally tasteful this shit is?
