In what planes are you speaking of that flat spins are dangerous? I agree if you are speaking of the Aero Commander. However, flat spins are a part of nearly all aerobatic shows in aerobatic planes. I used to do them all the time in the Decathlon.

It's not weightlessness, it's actually because of the "weightfullness" (1G) throughout the maneuver that the drink demonstration was possible.Had this been on a zero or negative G maneuver, there would be tea and glass everywhere.

I flew that dumbed down model of the shrike flying freight between Michigan and Chicago. The twin Aero Commander is an easy bird to control in bad weather. The engines in the piston model have 297HP each. Very hot. |
