I've heard this song a number of times in the last 20 years or so and I've always thought it to be pretty cool, especially since it was Leonard Nimoy doing something so far removed from the Spock character.Now I've seen this video and it is immediately crystal clear to me that Mr. Nimoy had a chance with this silly project to completely enjoy himself and HAVE FUN! How many entertainers today ever get an opportunity like this, corporate shills that they're forced to be?Mr. Nimoy YOU ROCK!!!

If he was currently filming star trek then yes, that was his haircut. some stars, for certain roles have to live with their hair a certain way for a while. like Natalie Portman going bald for V for Vendetta.
