For me wealth is not an end in itself and can be a source of immorality/weakness unless accompanied by knowledge and used for the sake of all mankind. The West has delivered great strides for mankind and progress with its wealth. The educational establishments and inventions are testimonials to that fact. We have learnt that knowledge also needs power to protect it otherwise its originators could be destroyed as the Arabs had done to their neighboring states which caused their rapid descent .

DolittleZoo, it is not a different story, you are still TRYING to disgrace Islam with facts that are not about Islam. What you are stating is about the way and history of the Arab world, none of it covers Islam. Allah does not care about Noble Prize winners or what country has the largest wealth. In the Quran, those are usually the ones who get the Wrath first because they fail to "use" their wealth in the way of Allah correctly. So I am not convinced by your history class.

The modern era started about 1500 when Arabs had returned to nomadic life once again and remained so till the 1930's when the West financed their oil infrastructure and the rest is the contemporary world.If we look at Jews there are 165 Nobel Prize winners compared to 6 Muslims. If you look at the differences in population I would point out the Muslim contribution is an utter disgrace. Pre internet your statements might have gone unchallenged but today, it is a different story.

Arts and media needs customer demand in order to finance investment/research. The corporations such as Warner, Glaxo, Sony etc are make products that customers like and hence they exist. I dont know why you think somehow "money" is a bad thing despite the whole world spinning around on it. Your ability to express yourself in the net is due to this process. At least show some thanks for being part of it instead of living in some delusional past which has disappeared into sand.

You display the delusions muslims have that has kept them securely in the dark ages for quite a few centuries. Many people already know that islam cannot survive a period of enlightenment and I think that is why muslims fear progress. The muslims plagiarised a lot of scholarly works from their colonies. The arab contribution to the so called muslim intelligentsia were minimal as can be seen from the centers of education which was based in baghdad (near babylon) and cairo (near Alexandria).

Nearly all modern science, mathematics and medicine was developed by Arabs. Before the works of Al-Ghazali, Ibn Sina, Ibn Al-Haytham and Ibn Khaldun were available, Europe lived the "Dark Ages". After learning from the Muslim sages, Europe had "the Renaissance". I didn't read comic books in school. You should have actually read your Algebra, Trigonometry, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics textbooks. If you took any of these subjects. Oh, I almost forgot Ahmed Zawail, 1999 Nobel Chemistry winner.
