A hockey league based in the Maritime region of Canada...is comprised of African-"Americans"? I kind of think that made these men African-"Canadians".

United States in Toronto, Canada was declared to be the best place in the world for Black people to live. Looks to me like African-Americans were pretty acepted in Canada, they went to the same schools as white children, worked in the same businesses, same churches, and used the same doctors. I'm sure racism was alive and well in Canada at the time, but I don't think they were looked down on as second hand citizens. Increase the peace.

I'm not black, and may be a little ignorant to black history, but I'm learning a lot. I googled it, and it seems to me that African-American slaves were protected in Canada. The British prevented slave-catchers from entering the country, they would not prosecute slaves for murders committed in the act of escaping slavery, they allowed them to become educated, open their own businesses and build their own homes and churches. brother you got to read. White folks didn't want to mix with blacks back then so they started there own league. BTW these blacks were descended from the Black Loyalist of British from the American Revolution(The Brits promised them freedom) But to make a long story short just google it in Canadian history.As for the lack of blacks today, you have your stereotypes(weak ankles, too cold) and just generally leaving black folks out in history.Anyhow continue learning.PEACEPEACE
