We are only learning about sight and perception we dont have anything like a full understanding of it and it appears the sight area of the brain is also activated by other perceptual triggers. Sight and touch are perceptually connected. Clouds arent fluffy we just say they are. Children including blind children are taught to dab their fingers in paint to make fluffy clouds. Esref says he wants us to forget he is blind and look at his paintings for what they are.

i agree for some of the things but you cant understand what fluffy is if you cant see it same with light and if you dident pay mutch atention to the vid it said that his brain doesent react the same that ares u cant understand evrething by someone telling you most things u must see to understand and he can sherly understand evrything dident you ever read the book the giver that could explain alot and so can the book the nothing

You just have to be told the sky is blue then you find the blue bottle of paint. The bottle can have any mark that can be felt to distinguish it. Clouds are white and fluffy so you dip your finger in white paint and dab. He does not have to understand light or see into the distance. If a blind person can hear they are told what the world looks like what colours things are, its a mental not a visual understanding.

what i find wierd and cool is how he dosent draw over his pic with another pic and how all his lines are in the right area
warrock37 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
i dont no if you took an art clase but scientist find it wierd how he understands light witch he had not seen and how an object looks from far when he can not see it and how things must be shaped in order to be solid and how thing look depending on how things react whene he can not see and also how he understand color and witch colours to use witch again he cant not see

because it also has to do with perception of light, color, and shading which he cannot feel
bluexmoonxmusic (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
wow, unbelieveable...that is truly amazing. how can he see those colors and images without even knowing what they look like in the first place? that, right there, is truly remarkable.

Why would this make scientists think about how we see things?, he admits that he feels objects and then knows how to draw them.

i've heard of people who draw with their eyes closed, which makes sense cus it helps you to see the image in your mind..... but when you've never seen anything at all before, thats something elseAnd how does he know what color whatever he's painting is? Or which paint to use? |
